Join a lesbian married couple as they navigate home improvements, home ownership, and starting a family
Except sometimes we really do
Welcome to NoDix for MoDix, the sequel!
I started a dating blog several years ago after being on multiple bad dates. Motivated by fame, I was trying to get out of my day job as an optometrist and was hoping MTV would get me my own reality show (is this still a thing?). I guess I never grew out of the adolescent egocentrism phase from high school…
Anyways, my blogging slowed down after I met my, now, wife. Turns out blog posts are less funny when you’re in a serious, monogamous relationship and hopelessly in love. By the time our vows were read, I think I was down to three followers–shout out to the Dirty Dangles and our wedding photographer. I decided to hang up the pen (er.. keyboard) and focus on being the best spouse possible and not air out our dirty laundry for all the world to read. Part of being a good spouse, was supporting my wife in her new found hobby of home improvements, which you’ll read all about!
I thought I’d focus my energy on writing a book…and maybe one day I’ll find the time and mental capacity to do so. I could never get past the first 3 chapters. Something about a book just seems so final, and frankly I don’t have a lot of life advice to impart on anyone. As much as I hate to admit it, I’m not Michelle Obama.
Truth is, I’ve missed writing. My wife has our never ending list of home improvement projects to keep her out of trouble, but there isn’t much keeping me preoccupied in my very limited free time. My other hobby–baking–has taken it’s toll on my waistline. It was time to make a blogging comeback.
My wife finished medical residency in Colorado and we moved to California for her first “big kid job.” We just celebrated our 1 year living in California, and just bought a house. After an eventful and humorous start to homeownership…we both agreed, it was time for me to put pen to paper (err my fingers to keys) and start writing again, sharing our experiences with our new home and new adventures as we look at embarking on the parenthood journey. That, and I got a lot of pressure from our wedding photographer to start another blog. This is for you LS!
Though most of you know me on a personal level, I will try to keep all mentioned anonymous. Part of the fun in writing these posts has been coming up with alias’s for all involved. My wife will still be Dr. Grey’s Anatomy, but I’ll add a “Mrs” to it to really get my word count up–she will now be “Mrs. Dr. Grey’s Anatomy”. I will still be MoDix–a combination of my first name and maiden name (it’s funny because I’m a lesbian incase you haven’t caught on yet..). Our cats, well, they’ll go by their given names–Boba and Bernie.
My goal is to keep the blog posts light hearted and humorous. I am sarcastic and have a dry sense of humor–you’ve been warned. I am also planning on keeping the posts at about a 7th grade reading level though some jokes may be better intended for adult audiences.
For some reason, I chose a new platform for publishing this blog and I could really use a Gen-Z’er to help me out with the IT logistics. But then again, do Gen-Z’ers blog?? Or Do they just TickTock? While we are on the topic of Gen-Z, can someone please explain to me what a “BRAT” is and how/why Kamala is one? I guess that’s my way of asking for patience as I iron out the IT sides of things.
Welcome to all my new readers, and welcome back to my Day 1’s.
All the love,
MoDix
